Day 1 Cambodia’s Ancient Heritage
After arrival in Siem Reap or Phnom Penh, your group will drive to Isanborei.
For an introduction to Cambodia’s proud heritage, your group can enjoy a peaceful walk through the forest and let your imaginations be captivated by the ancient footprint of these amazing, 7th century temple ruins.
Overnights are at a homestay with a local family. These basic accommodations offer a mattress bed and mosquito net, but no private bath or air conditioning.
Day 2-5 Schedule of Service Activities
During the next four days, your students will be immersed in basic home building construction involving sawing, measuring and hammering. This community service project highly values sharing and interaction between your volunteer group, the local guides and other villagers, host families as well as the recipient family even if the communication is mainly non verbal.
In the afternoon, the schedule will allow time for other activities such as gardening, playing sports and games with the children and teaching English.
The local people feel strongly that the students’ service project is not just about working, but to make friends and be part of the community.
Day 6 Khmer Cultural Experience
Your group’s efforts will be completed with a special house warming ceremony offered in humble gratitude by the recipient family. The ceremony shows the community’s deep spiritual beliefs when monks from the nearby temple come to chant and bestow a special Khmer blessing for continued happiness, good health and long life to the workers and the community members.
